Reflexions on Deliverance and Demonic Manifestations by Pam Sheppard

Written by: Pastor Pam Sheppard

I no longer consider myself a deliverance minister within the general expectations of the Christian world.  In fact, I only use the title for want of a better keyword to fit the requirements of Internet search engines.  Since 1983 with my first deliverance, I have developed a skeptical sense about what is actually going on within deliverance ministry circles. What has been proven to me particularly within the last decade is that evil spirits love deliverance ministry because it provides them with unique and almost unlimited opportunities to communicate and “put on a show of theatrics with their various “manifestations.”

For example, take Catholic exorcisms.  With all the demonic teachings like the deification of both Mary and the saints, how could a Catholic cast out demons, as both are a part of the same kingdom and as the Lord stated, “Satan does not cast out Satan.” So logically speaking, how can holy water when scattered on a captive  bring about a response of agony coupled with horrendous groans and howls, as if the demons are affected by water blessed by a Catholic priest?  Such acting on the part of evil spirits should earn them an Academy Award.  For Catholicism as it stands does not have  power over Satan or any fallen angels or demons under the devil’s  command.  Therefore, a demonically inspired religion does not impress  me to believe that holy water has any power over demons and therefore the “over the top” manifestations are theatrical at best.

In general, what I have discovered is that the more an evil spirit is able to speak through a captive and move the captive’s body parts, the more in control that spirit is. What follows is a probability that that spirit is not coming out very easy. Oh it may pretend to leave but it has not been cast out.  This is yet another aspect of their theatrics.  Most evil spirits know how to fake a deliverance.

So as a rule of thumb, I do not cast out demons until I am familiar with the captive and his or her issues. During this stage, my most useful weapon is the application of truth by overthrowing all preconceived notions, assumptions, false religious doctrine and practices, as well as challenging the captive’s tendency toward passivity.

Once I confront the spirits, if there are no manifestations, then I consider the possibility that:

1. There are no demons in the captive and that the symptoms represent outside oppression  or

2. The captive is oppressed by a fallen angel and not a demon or

3. The demon is clever enough to hide or “play possum.”

In all three cases, deliverance counseling is the option of choice.

However, if there ARE manifestations, then I have to consider that

1.the evil spirits are playing games or

2. The spirit knows it will prevail because it has legal rights so  it becomes bold and boastful with the manifestations, or

3. The evil spirit will pretend to go.

Nevertheless, I guard against labeling the oppressed as there are no real blueprints.  Every deliverance counseling session unfolds in it’s own individual fashion.  I am simply not impressed by either the lack of demonic  manifestations or conversely,  spirits desiring to use the captive as a channel to speak to me.

In either case, I will not entertain a conversation with evil spirits.  In fact, I will not allow these beings to speak.

Why the Sinners Prayer Led to the Great Falling Away

By Pastor Pam Sheppard

I believe that it was the traditional congregation’s invitation, of “opening the doors of the church,” that  ushered in  countless demons into the visible church system.  The founding fathers of Methodism  instituted a superior practice of placing those who seek to escape the wrath that is to come  on a probationary  membership status. The founding fathers of Methodism were wise enough to not only create a procedure to  ensure a bona fide salvation but also to protect the body from fellowship with unbelievers.  However, over time, the full enforcement of this practice became ineffective, as people were brought into permanent church status without having manifested fruits of salvation.  I personally believe that when converts can demonstrate that they are truly disciples of the Lord, then we can fellowship with them as brethren, and not before.

Yet another open door to the religious demon is the coined spiritual phrases.  A  Christian idiom most frequently expressed is  “the Lord led me.”  In a book called “Unholy Devotion,” the author aptly warns of the danger of spiritualizing:

At first glance the phrase sounds quite spiritual, but a close examination of Scripture reveals that it is not always biblical. On several occasions the phrase is used by or to describe false prophets or deceptive people. Jacob deceived his father by spiritualizing issues. Esau, Jacob’s brother, had just gone hunting. Too quickly, it seemed, Jacob, claiming to be Esau, brought the killed game to his father. “How did you find game so quickly?” Isaac asked. Having usurped Esau’s place, Jacob lied to his sick, blind father. But notice Jacob’s very ‘spiritual’ response: ‘The Lord your God gave me success.” (Gen27:20) Jacob was playing dangerous games, spiritualizing in order to manipulate someone he knew would believe such words. Jacob wasn’t a false cult leader or prophet; he was God’s own chosen servant”.

Christians often think that the seeds of heresy are found only in cults and in off-beat sects of Christianity. But John, in his first letter, and Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, reminded us that heretical teachers are often found within the church itself. Jesus notes that the dormant seeds of heresy can be buried in the lawns of the church. In Matthew 13, Jesus tells a parable of the kingdom of heaven: The enemy sowed sees within this kingdom. In our desire to discover and understand the doctrines of cults, we may forget that potential gardens of heresy lie within our own walls. Remember: Sun Myung Moon was raised a Presbyterian; David Berg, founder of the Children of God, was once an Evangelical pastor; Jim Jones pastored a Christian church; many leaders in the People’s Temple and Jonestown were former members of Nazarene, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist and Assemblies of God Churches.” 1 (HL Bussell, pg.111)

Besides the altar call, the invitation to Christian discipleship, and the various professions of faith, there are  other  coined religious platitudes and phrases like “Jesus, come into my heart” and “I accepted Jesus into my life”  that  lead to  counterfeit births.   I myself have not been able to find any scriptures in the bible that suggest that we should ask Jesus to come into our hearts.   I believe that when the Lord says that we must abide in Him, He means that we must stay in Him without wavering, in other words,—- to continue, to dwell, to be present, to remain. This is the essence of the Greek word,  that was translated “abide” in John 15.  Accordingly, baring fruit in Christ is a manifestation of a believer continuing and remaining in Him.

Yet Satan’s plot against the organized church  actually took shape  under the ministry of a preacher called Charles Finney.

Charles Finney

Finney was quite a wicked looking man, as you can see the devil all up in his face. The man lived a long time when you consider that in his lifetime, the average live span was  from the late forties to about 65.  Finney lived tobe 83, from 1792-1875. A fiery New York preacher, Finney’s impact on church traditions and practices has been  so profound, that his influence is still spreading globally almost two centuries later.  Finney’s notoriety is that he is the one who brought the entire church the “make a decision for Christ” through repeating the sinners prayer and the altar call.  A practicing freemason for 8 years, Finney eventually disavowed if.  Yet what I have learned about freemasonry is that it is witchcraft. And you just  don’t walk away from witchcraft without a struggle.

Anyway, in a nutshell,  Finney believed that human beings were capable of choosing whether they would be corrupt by nature or redeemed, referring to original sin as an “anti-scriptural and nonsensical dogma”  In clear terms, Finney denied the notion that human beings possess a sinful nature. Therefore, if Adam leads us into sin,  he does so not by our inheriting his guilt and corruption, but by our  following his poor example, this leads logically to the view of Christ as not having died for sins but for some lofty, moralistic reason.

Well, this was the man who started the altar call, invitation to Christian discipleship, “I accept Jesus,” practice that has led to the greatest falling away—the one that Paul himself predicted would transpire.  Consequently, due to Charles Finney, souls have probably not been saved within the organized church system for at least 150 years!!!! This doctrine has  primarily affected the Protestants much  more than the Catholics. Another fallen angel, Mother Mary had a different strategy for THEM. The “make a decision, I accept Jesus gospel has so permeated all Protestant Church tradition, a problem that Baptist preacher Paul Washer is diligently trying to correct, to no avail.  Washer is correct on this score but there  are errors in his teaching as well, which is yet “another story.”  Another practice that Finney started was to use the preacher’s invitation at the end of a sermon to evoke an emotional response, in other words to create a charged up atmosphere to manipulate a false conversion.

Hearing God About the Judgement of the Institutional Church: Get Ready To Leave Her!

imageOne of my ministries is that of an end time watchman. I was reminded of the Lord’s warning to yet another watchman whose name is Ezekiel. I personally heed the Lord’s command to Ezekiel as though His words were spoken directly to me. Simply put, if I don’t warn you, the people, then your blood is on my hands. (Ezekiel Ch. 3) Consequently ,I am committed to releasing truth not only IN love, but BY love.

Point #1: Simply stated, I personally suspect that the institutional  church has already been judged relatively recently, perhaps decades, maybe even a century ago.

If not, then judgment is very close at hand.  Satan began to progressively establish a seat within church divisions, sects, and organizations since around the third century. Therefore, I believe that the book of Revelation was prophetically  written about every church age. However, death has been a real blessing for the saints who have already left this earth prior to “the end.” Truly, those who are alive when the Lord Jesus Christ returns for the dead and the living will face a challenge that no other church age has been required to face. I believe that we are approaching  that hour NOW—as we live in the best of times and the worst of times. I may see the grave, maybe NOT—-but my daughter and my grandson may yet be alive when He comes. So where do we stand now?

Point #2. Well, I believe that we are in the midst of a transition.

Back in the summer of 1981, as I sat in a chair dozing,–(not asleep yet not fully awake either,) I heard the audible voice of the Lord. I didn’t have to try the spirits on this one. Didn’t have a chance to. He said “Pam,” and my spirit caused my mouth to answer immediately— “Yes, Lord.”

Then He said “I am about to do a new thing with My Church.” I stirred, stretched a bit and answered, ” Uh, huh.” Then, in the sweetest voice I have ever heard in my life, He asked very politely, without a hint of command or demand—- “Can I use you??” I was spiritually ignorant back then and so I answered without even thinking, “Sure Lord. Let’s start with the Roses of Hope.” It took decades for me to realize that “His church” was not just the local church that I was a member of.

In my local church, The Roses of Hope was a money-raising group who organized house parties where they had card games and sold liquor to raise money for the church. I had only been a churchgoer for two years in 1981 when the Lord called me.. Likewise, I was still as carnal as the rest of the members, but commonsense told me that there was something not quite right about THIS kind of money-raising. lol. Once I mentioned the Roses of Hope, my conversation with the Lord stopped immediately and there was a deep silence. Disappointed, I thought to myself “what did I say that turned Him off?” I was such a babe. I have heard His voice a few times since but never again quite LIKE THAT!!!

Looking back, I realize that this encounter with the Lord was one of the several ways that I received my calling 35 years ago prior to entering the ministry on Oct. 25, 1981. At that time, I did not know what a sermon was much less a calling to ministry, so it took at least 10 signs for me to finally comprehend that I was being called. Even so, I have  forgotten the Lord’s mentioning of “the new thing.” What new thing is the Lord is going to do with “His Church?” I can look back over the last 14 years and finally understand that the new thing is Christian assembly online, in homes, with very little organization, other than to planning and strategy. The barest of administration to provide the slights of order to avoid confusion of His endtime sheepfold around the world.

so to keep with the flow of my story, as a pastor for 17 of my 25 years of ministry in a church institution,  I had another encounter with the voice of God, this time in a dream. I never saw His face, only His robe.  The focus of the dream was my ministry within the institutional church I had been ordained by and appointed two different churches to pastor.  I was in a comfortable groove and never even considered leaving. So I was baffled by this dream. The Lord said “Pam, you are a light hidden under a bed.  I cannot use you here.” He started to walk away, then turned around and said in a casual way “but let them put you out.”

Wow! I was shocked. My immediate response was “I have 25 years of good standing in this denomination.  It is impossible for them to put me out.” A week after the dream, I learned there was a secret plot underway in an attempt to discredit me.  I could have come against it without a problem but I remembered the dream. Therefore,   I did not fight it at all.  In fact, I sat back and watched, pretending I was blind to the plot as everything as initiated behind my back, yet I had new eyes on the back of my head.  Nine months later, I let them remove my name from their rolls. Nevertheless, not even once  did I consider in 2004, that it was God’s intent that I never enter  another church building  again. Then in 2007, fully awake, not in an obvious altered state of consciousness, I heard from the Lord once again on these matters.  What I heard THIS time was beyond shocking.

There was no audible voice this time, as the communication was from ” the sender of the message to my spirit and then to my mind.” At the time, I was attempting to set up a conference schedule to conduct deliverance training seminars for a churches around the country and in Bermuda when I ran into a “closed-door.” Almost immediately, the Lord revealed to me that He was the one who closed the door. Wondering why, I sought the Father in prayer. It didn’t take long for me to be answered. In less than a week, a kind of telepathic communication took place to let me know that I was “on the wrong track”. .

First I heard a question. “Pam. would you put up curtains at the windows of a condemned building?” I used my mind to answer with a “no.” Then a kind of speech was made that went something like this. “A homeless person will make a home in a condemned building. To escape the elements of the weather on the outside, he will satisfy himself and “make do” with no heat, no running water, no lights, and he will share his dwelling with the occupants: the rats and the roaches.” Then I was hit in the face with this statement. “If you try to edify the organized church with seminars and conferences, you will be putting up curtains at the windows of a condemned building.”

Metaphorically speaking, it was clear to me that the condemned building was a symbol of the organized church. If this “mental conversation” was from the Holy Ghost)===== then the metaphor is suggesting that the organized church is a condemned building. Please note that I am still trying the spirits, so I am not saying “thus says the Lord” in this instance. If you have heard different, please let me know so that we can try the spirits together!!!

Condemnation suggests “judgment.” The word says that “judgment will begin at the household of faith.” Therefore, natural logic by simple commonsense suggests to me that “the organized church has either already been judged or will be judged very soon.” In keeping with this parable of sorts, sheep who attend church regularly are those who are afraid of the outside elements of a dangerous and sinful world, –and rightly so–Therefore, it makes sense to run inside church walls for protection. Yet, in keeping with the symbols, when we run inside, we find that there is no light. God is light. In Him there is no darkness at all. No light-No God!!!!! So what do we do? We “make do!!!”

The church has become skilled at “making do!” Since Jesus Christ of Nazareth is the Light and His people are referred to “as lights”, the next logical thought is that He is not the Head of the organized church and very few of His people are attending church. So what of the massive, mega congregations? Same thing. No light. No God. As astutely recognized in the words  of one of my subscribers, it’s just a crowd of gatherers worshipping someone who they refer to as Jesus. To quote her exact words, “wherever the crowd gathers, there is sin crouching at the door.”

In addition, there is no running water in the condemned building— no rivers of living water–therefore, no Holy Ghost. Without the Holy Ghost, then the 7 stars are removed. The 7 stars are the angels of God.(Rev.1:20) Angels are assigned to the churches to guard and protect each flock. Without the Holy Ghost and the angels of God, it is understandable why the sheep are being spiritually damaged by the shepherds—- The RATS are the wolves in sheep’s clothing—- hirelings–the so-called shepherds of the flock—- countless pastors who fellowship with uncleaness, ie. the roaches.

So it stands to reason, that if this “condemned building” parable be from the Lord, then the leaders of the church as it now stands have fared poorly in the Lord’s eyes. If this be so, then what about the sheep? Sheep need shepherds?!!! Where are the shepherds of the Lord? A condemned building can stand, maybe for years but ultimately, the beams and the walls will crumble and fall. If it doesn’t fall, then the city will come along with a bulldozer and “take it down.” How will the organized church come down?

Read Revelation Ch. 17 and Rev. 18 about “the harlot” called Mystery Babylon. After the fall of the towers of the World Trade Center, I thought that Rev. Ch. 18 was fulfilled for several reasons. However, one fact caused me to know that the dust fallout in NYC and the fall of “world trade” was not the complete fulfillment of this chapter. Why? Because the World Trade Center is being rebuilt. The scripture clearly states that when Babylon falls, there will be no rebuilding of her. So I wrongly assumed that Mystery Babylon was NYC. I was born and raised in NYC. Therefore, in error, I warned everyone I knew to “come out of her.”

After a few years passed, I realized that NYC is NOT Babylon. Is it the USA? Maybe.  Any one who knows the Lord realizes that He would not command us to “come out of her, my people” (Rev. 18:4), “lest you share in her sins, lest you receive of her plagues,” unless there was an actual place where we could flee to. Where are God’s people? Well, for the most part, God’s people are known to be in the organized church.

If Mystery Babylon were an actual city or nation, where on earth could all of God’s people go in an exodus of unimaginable global proportions? Recognizing the signs of the time, a few Christians have already fled to Canada, believing that in doing so, they are going to escape the fall of America. I say this to you. How can America be Babylon when God’s people are everywhere. So where are His people in every nation on the planet supposed to go? To the Moon or to Mars?

I don’t know about you but I don’t own a space ship. Even though several mega-tv evangelists own personal jet planes, they don’t own space ships!!! Regardless of what anybody says, America is the best country in the entire world. Meaning no disrespect to non-American readers, seekers of freedom from around the world flee their native lands all the time to find a safe harbor on American shores. There is no actual “place” that God’s people can go to on this earth.

Ironically, the USA is a country founded upon the flight of spiritually oppressed people from the Old World. However, since Christopher Columbus, oppressed Americans have no earthly place that we ourselves can flee to. Think about it. Can all of God’s people in the USA fit into Canada? Let’s be real, here. Anyway, if America is to fall, how safe is Canada? Canada is just around the corner from us. We’d be better off in Australia or the South Pole!!!!

BUT Fear not!!! Mystery Babylon could certainly not be a physical place. In 3 of my books, I referred to “the Fake Jesus” and other Ascended Masters aka “fallen angels”, with the two leading ones calling themselves Maitreya and Jesus Sananda Immanuel.  I am not alone in my belief that Mystery Babylon is a metaphor symbolizing idolatrous religion and other world systems. The “judged” church is not Mystery Babylon in its totality, but merely a part of it, Actually, there are several signs that the organized churches of today will eventually unite with all of the other false religions that relegate our Lord to a mere teacher or a prophet who they claim is a created being, “not divine”.

Yet I believe that most of the true church will rise out of a righteous remnant that still remains within the institution called  church and others whom the Lord has touched and called who have never been church members. I realize that the outpouring of the spirit of God upon ALL flesh is coming upon “the remnant church” but clearly, the Holy Ghost will not manifest Himself in a corrupt place. The Lord will not put new wine into old wineskins. However, where the rivers will flow, I do not yet know.

Does the “new thing” require buildings to do the work of the Lord.? No, but if so, I suspect that buildings will be used on a very limited scale. The early church of the book of Acts “was not organized,” as followers of the resurrected Lord assembled in each other’s homes. Likewise,  the “new thing” will not be organized with boards, bishops and buildings either!!!! The only covering required is the Head Himself, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Praise His Holy Name!!!

Nor will anyone be  able to stand in the way of “the new thing.” I have perceived some signs that quietly and secretly the Holy Ghost has been taking His time over the last few decades, preparing righteous and holy shepherds–like Joshua and Caleb– who have been refined in the fires of trial, trouble and tribulation— leaders across the globe. There are not many of them, but like Gideon’s army, there will be enough to do the job. So what should we do in the meantime? Well, we should “watch, pray and wait. “

Some of God’s people have already heeded the call and we have “come out of Her.” Others of you may have to stay within the condemned building for a time or at least on its periphery, until you too “hear the call.” It is not my job to “call you out.” This is not my intention. Some people are addicted to church and if they were to “come out” without the proper care and support systems in place, additional spiritual damage might be incurred. As withdrawal from alcohol without medical supervision is life threatening, so too, an exodus from the organized church at the present moment may be too shocking to the spiritual system of longterm “churchaholics.” Actually, it is wise NOT to come out until you hear the Holy Ghost for yourself. The problem is that most sheep within church walls for a considerable length of time are so deaf and so blind that they simply cannot hear and they cannot see.

Moreover, the enemy has built up a formidable stronghold by seducing them to heed and believe false doctrines or to become emotionally attached to pastors, buildings, church traditions, choir members, etc.. The god of this world has blinded them, almost beyond repair. (II Cor 4:3,4) Only God Himself can release the prey of the mighty and set free the lawfully captive. (Isaiah 49:24-26) In each case of spiritual blindness, prayer should beseech the Father based upon His mercy, grace and pardon. My job is simple. I preach righteousness and truth, both by mouth and on the printed page. That’s all I have to do. The Lord does His work of deliverance, and from time to time, allows me to share in His power.

I commit to sending you the truth through my books, videos and blogs and let the Spirit of Truth –aka the Holy Ghost open your spiritual ears to hear, to understand and to obey Him when He calls you out of Mystery Babylon. By His grace and mercy, I believe that He will restore your spiritual hearing and your spiritual sight, if the condition of your heart is sincere, meek and upright. You yourself have an unction from God to see and if you hunger and thirst after righteousness, I strongly believe that when the time is right, you will hear His call.

To simplify matters, here is a general overview of the organized church of today. There are two main sects of Christians: Catholics and Protestants. Within Protestantism, there are three main branches: the denominations, the non-denominations, and the word of faith/charismatic movement. The church of James from Atlanta’s youth falls under the category of a denomination, the Baptist Church. The second church that James and Michelle both describe is what is categorized as a word of faith, non-denominational charismatic church.

There are many denominations. There are a few denominations that are charismatic, ie. the pentecostal churches. There is one denomination that calls itself “full gospel Baptist.” It should be pointed out that every nondenominational church is not necessarily charismatic or word of faith. However, practically ALL word of faith churches are charismatic and therefore they have much in common with some denominational pentecostal churches.

So where should you attend church while you “watch and wait” for the Lord’s “new thing?” Good question. Everyone is not like me. As a watchman, I was actually called to stand alone. So this is just my opinion for those who have a different calling. My advice may be of some value to you, as it is based upon decades of experience with the denominational and the non-denominational, charismatic word of faith movement.

Point #3 In truth, I personally believe that the best option–the wisest choice–is to stay out of the organized church entirely, especially if you are a babe in Christ or one who is lost, but seeking Him.

However, if you are  a churchgoer and you are still attached or even addicted to “church”, then know this. By far, if you are attending a charismatic church, be it pentecostal, charismatic, or word of faith, you are not in a safe place.  All churches have become a dwelling place of demons!

I am also an advocate of home churches, of three, but  no more than 5 people.  Each home church should have a coordinator.  I will provide the coordinator with all of the tools necessary to feed the sheep each week in my online church called RESCUE. For more information, visit http://www.aboutrescue.com or call 888-818-1117. Ministry In 2012

A fresco of a black Madonna and Jesus in Axum ...

Are we headed for  the last season of God’s timetable before the Lord’s soon return?  How do we preach in this season? I believe that the preaching of the gospel to the world has already been done. The truth is that many who call themselves “God’s people” have anchored their faith in the preaching of a distorted gospel. Today I received a phone call from a man living on the west coast who was calling about his 93-year-old Catholic mother, a recent stroke victim hospitalized on the east coast. The son requested if someone from my church would make a hospital visit, in order to “lead her to salvation.” The son proudly let me know that he is a pentecostal and that he doesn’t believe that his Catholic mother is saved. The mother has not lost her mental faculties, but the stroke has left her without speech. I said to the son, “I don’t lead anybody into salvation for I don’t have the power to save anyone, and salvation is according to election by the sovereign will of God. If your mother is called to salvation, then the Lord will find a way to save her. My concern is that your mother has heard and believes on “another gospel.” The son was so churched, that it never crossed his mind that perhaps he too was not saved. As for his sick and dying mother,  how does one to proceed?  Going to her hospital bed and informing this aged Catholic that she has been worshipping the fake Jesus and a demon called Mother Mary might actually send her over the edge.

I rest assured that if this mother is one of God’s elect, He will certainly save her. I have learned that one of the primary principles of ministry today is to be aware of your own limitations and not “rush in” on false faith. For two millennium, the word of God has been preached from one end of the world to the other since the Day of Pentecost. The gospel is a very simple message: Jesus coming out of heaven to earth, born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, died and was raised from the dead, was seen of many, ascended and, praise God, He is coming back. Therefore, part one of the Great Commission is practically accomplished. This is the gospel in a nutshell, a word that is published every Christmas and every Easter, in spite of Santa Claus and the Bunny.

I am a clear example of an atheist who had never heard the word preached from a pulpit or from a TV evangelist, never even-handed a tract nor had I ever opened a bible. If an atheist could be drawn to Jesus just based upon the word that was preached through the holidays of Christmas and Easter, ANYONE CAN BE!!! This is the reason why the enemy is taking a strong stand against keeping Jesus as the reason for both seasons. Unfortunately, it is not surprising that the church is in the pitiful condition that it is in today because of a gross neglect of part two of the Great Commission which is “go forth and cast out demons!” Therefore, I write to the faithful of the church at Philadelphia, and exhort you to remember the words of Paul to Timothy: “In the last days, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.” (I Timothy 4:1)

As the word of God has foreshadowed in various scriptures, seducing spirits are thriving in the organizational church today in the form of the religious demon. So beware, oh, precious ones! Beware of demons that will come in your midst and try to hide in your sheepfolds, whose mission is to bring down the true Body of Christ. To be successful, Satan must be very deceptive. In one of His parables, the Lord announced that in the midst of His planting wheat in His field, an enemy came along and planted imitation wheat called “tares” or weeds.

Consequently, the Lord declared that toward the end of the age, there would come a point in time when the imitation wheat and the true wheat would look identical. (Matthew 13:37-43) I believe that the objective of ministry during endtimes is connected to the Lord’s coming again. As John the Baptist preached repentance and “prepare ye the way of the Lord” to unveil His first coming, I believe that ministry in the endtimes is about preparing the people for the Lord’s second coming. So, how do we do that? I don’t think I can state any better what I have already written in “the New Idolatry.” I have found that the demonstration of power begins at the cross. The cross of Jesus Christ is the place where we must submit our human nature. Not just the bad but the good also.

The ones who demonstrate the most power are the ones who have suffered the most—the ones who have sinned the most—the ones who have been forgiven of the most. They tend to be most humble. However, people who have always had it good, been the most acceptable to the world, people pleasers who have adapted to a success model based upon the world’s standards—these are the people who are the most difficult to demonstrate God’s power. They are too filled up with their own power. Their own thoughts. Their own ways. Their own abilities. What I hope my testimony speaks to is that it is not just the bad things that must go to the cross. It is also the things that are considered good about ourselves that are the most dangerous. Like Paul, we’ve got to cry out, “I don’t get mixed up in nothin except Jesus Christ and Him crucified!” (pg 202) Once a Christian has been dealt with—broken by God at the cross—and has emerged a servant, then he or she is ready to participate in ministry.

I believe that in this hour, the primary work of service is to undeceive those who believe that “they already know.” Once those who have been deluded and confused have been enlightened by truth, a deliverance may still be necessary and so the casting out of demons is a very important ministry in these times. Actually, I perceive ministry today as giving out nuggets of truth. Sometimes the scope of what can be confronted with captives to deception is very limited. In my deliverance counseling practice as outlined in my third book,Faces of the Religious Demon,” I have found that the Lord is allowing some of His people to be tormented so that they can be shaken from the deep spiritual sleep in which they so proudly and boastfully rest. Unfortunately, the spiritual arrogance and pride of those who are seeking prominence and a name for themselves in Christiandom are in serious trouble because their spiritual arrogance and pride has become deeply entrenched in their hearts and minds.

So in 2012, I am prepared that scores of people shall refuse to hear God’s warnings coming from an author whom they may consider “a nobody.” Armed with this knowledge, I am no longer distressed or stressed when I am rejected by them. I realize that namedroppers and wannabees have to be broken because in their proud state, many are unable to humble themselves enough to even discern the signs of the times, as they think that they are going to build a personal Christian kingdom that they can pass on to their children and grandchildren as many notable mega preachers have already done. So other than for those who enter into counseling or mentoring with Pam Sheppard Ministries, my approach to ministry as an author is to focus on at least one nugget of truth, either by telephone or by email, by a book or a blog and then “move on” and let the Holy Ghost lead that person into the essentials of a deeper truth. For various reasons, I have found that the resistance to the truth by most captives is the result of their religious development overtime. Like a spider forms a web, religious demons on assignment have weaved an intricate, subliminal spiritual web—a longstanding strategy that has progressively hindered a captive’s ability to face this or her own Laodicean blindness “head on.”

So for me, ministry in 2012 is to drop a nugget of truth on the world-wide web,  “plant a truth seed” in 1000 words or less— and then leave the plowing, the weeding, the watering and even the harvesting up to God, and  keep on steppin. Sometimes you will find that the captive does not like the style or manner of the messenger even more than the content of the message. In such cases, when I find people who will not acknowledge my words because they do not like either my style or my tone, I strategically plan my exit. As they stubbornly cling to their own ideas of how they believe that God should teach them through the organized church where they have been a member of longstanding, I “cut to the chase.” I have learned to focus my energy and go right to the heart of the matter. I will certainly avoid throwing scripture back and forth as in a contest, but I will pointedly ask a few salient questions like, “If you are really saved, then why is the devil having his way with you? Why don’t you have any joy or peace in the Holy Ghost? Why are you not assured of your salvation? Why so much condemnation, shame and guilt” Are you confused? Is confusion of God or is it of the devil? Then I sit back, wait on a response, and refuse to take either a defensive or an offensive position. In other words, I present a nugget of truth, and I don’t stick around to see whether or not that nugget was received. I just “keep it movin.” Sometimes the Lord will let me know that “the seed got planted in good ground.” Sometimes, He does not. This is the key. Ministry is the Lord’s thing. Some plant, some water, but it is the Holy Ghost Who gives the increase.
