Christian Seers Who Channel: Recognizing a False Prophet

Pastor Pam Sheppard writes:

From 1975-1977, I was a medium.  Today, the term “channel” is more common to describe someone who communicates with spirits.  Once I became born again on March 29, 1977, I lost all ability to be a vessel for demons.

It was obvious to me in my channeling days  that the information that emanated  through written language  did not come from me. At those times, I was consciously aware that  my spirit left my body and that one by one, other beings took over my vocal chords and spoke.  My spirit stood in a corner of the room screaming, “let me back in.”  When the spirits  were done with me, I was like a weak dish rag. I also recall a few times when I would be speaking to someone, and a power would come over me. I found myself  in a kind of suspended animation, as I listened to another entity speaking, which I KNEW  was not me.

Forty three years have passed and this has not happened to me since I have been born again.  NOT ONE TIME!

Nevertheless, I suspect that present day   “church prophets” who always have a word are actually channeling in a similar fashion as I did when I was a New Age occultists. In other words, either knowingly or unknowing, professing Christians are being used as channels or mediums by religious spirits to send forth messages.

Jessie Penn Lewis in her  century old book “War on the Saints,”  sheds some light on this:

The moment ground is given, in any degree, to evil spirits, the faculties are dulled by them, or become passive through non-use. Their aim then is to substitute themselves for the person in all his actions, and so to gain entrance to him, over the rails, so to speak, of his passive faculties, will, etc., as to intertwine themselves in the innermost structure of his being, and thus to control him and use him for their own purposes; the man meanwhile believing that he is admitting Divine substitutions for himself–that is, God working, and acting instead of himself–and thus he is becoming “God-possessed.”

Believers in such a degree of possession by deceiving spirits then have “supernatural power”, and can, in a supernatural way, get from the spirits in control of them, and give forth from them as their transmitters, many supernatural workings, or manifestations such as:– The getting and transmitting of “Revelations.” The power of “Prophecy.” The power of divination. The receiving and giving of impressions, supernaturally. The getting of specific “guidance,” supernaturally. The foretelling of events. The power of writing automatically, or otherwise. The receiving and giving of information. The receiving of interpretations. The getting of visions.

In my case back in the mid 70’s, I KNEW the communications were coming from outside of me, as my mind and thoughts of my soul were not involved, and the spirit beings assigned to me  were distinct from me in interests, knowledge and personality aka, my soul.   However Christians are deceived into assuming that the manifested utterances  of evil spirits are the revelations and gifts of the Holy Ghost.

Jessie Penn-Lewis provides a clear explanation of how evil spirits deceive self proclaimed Christian prophets to believe that their work is the anointing of God:

Many of these manifested workings of the evil spirits in possession of the believer, appear to be the working of the man himself; but of which actions he is incapable naturally; e.g., he may have no “natural” power of “translating, criticizing,” etc. Yet the spirits in possession can give him power for so doing, thus creating a false personality in the eyes of others, who think him possessed of such and such “gifts” (naturally), and are disappointed when he will not use them; not knowing that he is unable to “manifest” or use such supposed “gifts,” except at the will of the spirits in control of him.

Also that when the deceived believer discovers such manifestations to be the fruit of possession, and refuses any longer to be the slave of the lying spirits of Satan, such “gifts” cease to exist. This is the time when the undeceived man is persecuted by the revengeful spirits of evil, through their suggestions to others that he has “lost his power,” or “retrograded” in his spiritual life, when in truth he is being liberated from the effects of their wicked and fiendish workings.

So how do we distinguish a false prophet from a true one?

A true prophet will be humble enough to examine his or herself, willing to put to the test what is received BEFORE he or she declares it in the public. .

To try the spirits to see if they be of God is mandatory. Anyone who says “thus saith the Lord without testing it is neither sober or vigilant, and that person is probably oblivious to the lion who roams about, seeking whom he may devour.  If you receive words into your spirit from such a one, you too are vulnerable, in danger of being devoured yourself.

Any prophet who assumes that he or she  does not  hear from the devil is foolhardy.  Dangerously, that person is deceived already, a passive vessel for the devil’s shenanigans. He has loose lips and he can sink ships with them.  People who speak evil with power have a destructive tongue that should be cut off.

Watchman Nee on “Spiritual Authority”

In his book entitled “Spiritual Authority”, Watchman Nee describes how a true leader of God should exercise authority. He writes “Authority is established by God’therefore, no delegated authority need try to secure His authority.  Do not insist that others listen to you.  If they err, let them err; if they do not submit, let them be insubordinate; if they insist on going their own way, let them go.  A delegated authority ought not strive with men.  Why should I demand a hearing if I am not God’s established authority?  On the other hand, if I am set up by God, need I fear lest men not submit?  Whoever refuses to hear me, disobeys God.  It is not needful for me to force people to listen. God is my support, why then should I fear?  We should never say so much as one word on behalf of our authority,  rather, let us give people their liberty.  The more God entrusts to us, the more liberty we grant to people.  Those who are thirsty after the Lord will come to us.  It is most defiling to speak on behalf of our own authority or to try to establish authority ourselves.”
(pg. 121)

Jesus declared that true authority comes from servitude.  In other words, a true leader is a servant to the people and not a demagogue or a despotic tyrant.  Most leaders who try to rule over the people are doing so based upon the weaknesses and insecurities hidden within their own personalities. Such leaders will desire to have control over others as well as over himself.  He wants nothing to happen that he has not initiated or approved of.

This quest for control may on one hand preach freedom, yet on the other hand insist on knowing and controlling everything. Such a person wants to be right all of the time and is very irritated when found to be wrong, even in regards to insignificant things.  For example, when confronted with a question he does now know the answer to, he will pretend to know. He also always strives to have his own way.  Any kind of delay, any enforced waiting, any difference of perspective  will become a source of irritation.  As a counselor, I try to  arm the captive with this sort of information about themselves  so that they will make sound judgments in choosing whom they will allow to lead them spiritually in the future. As a ministerial servant, I don’t demand anything from anybody—not money and certainly not loyalty. I resist pride by not allowing ANYONE to place me on a pedestal. It is the tendency of people with religions demons  to enjoy targeting Christian leaders to receive the brunt of their own transference issues with abusive  parents.  Once a person with a religious demon is disappointed or damaged, he or she  can be ruthless and relentless in personal attacks of erring,  human   leaders whom the sheep  themselves pushed off of their own self- designed pedestals.

From a personal perspective, I used to be a pastor in the organized church for 20 of my 30 years in ministry.  I pastored congregations of three different churches—-two I was appointed to by a bishop and one I started myself and led for 12 years. I learned a great deal from those experiences.  When people are not saved, they will rebel at any provocation. As long as they are stroked and complimented, all is well, and the leader can do no wrong. I try to be sensitive to people’s feelings.  However, there are many in church who suffer from mental health disorders, including but not limited to borderline personality disorder, paranoia, and narcissistic personality disorder. It is my leadership style  not  to strive with people. In fact, recognizing that I am not wrestling with flesh and blood, I do not enter  into battle with the Lord’s sheep. I let them attack me before I would retaliate and attack them. I have  forgotten several horror stories of the personal  abuse I sustained at the hands of the sheep–people who called themselves “Christian.”The truth is that they were not true believers but imposters.

We have but ONE litmus test.  It is the test of love.  Love is what sustains us. Not human, emotional love but our love for Jesus Christ of Nazareth.  I don’t need 3 months or 30 years to love a true Christian. When my spirit bears witness with the Holy Ghost and I KNOW in my spirit that a person is a child of God, I need no evidence of loyalty or a personal commitment to ME!!! When I am in the presence of a true Christian, I don’t have to make a lot of effort at relationship building.  I love them immediately, no holes barred. I don’t care how much we disagree or whether or not our personalities clash. If they love the true Jesus,  I love them, un-conditionally.

I have lived more than 3 decades of  my life as a servant.  However, if a pretender, a hypocrite is exposed up close and personal, I am no one to play with, so I warn folk not to take my Christian kindness for weakness.  If  you do not walk in love, you are barking up the wrong tree when you fool with me, Devil!

Religious demons have many faces. Some will come with flattery and appear to be helping you when inwardly, they are unloving, ravenous wolves. I call these kinds of  people  a Judas spirit, the spirit of the Anti-Christ.  To know more, you need my book “Faces of the Religious Demon.”

Does Pam Sheppard Teach Truth? Part 1

Minister Marlene Taylor

Pam Sheppard  might just ruffle the tender feathers of those who claim to stand for truth.  Pam Sheppard wields her sword of truth with no apology. The lone ranger disciple, minister or teacher is puffed up, and angry at the false teachers that he or she has encountered.

I can understand the anger, butI  have no sympathy for those who deny the truths of the Gospel, and insist that God shall teach them directly. My dear readers, the notion that God has left His people without a teacher or prophet, is an outright lie from the pits of hell. No where in the Bible is it stated or implied that a time will come when God will speak to YOU or ME or ANYONE directly. To believe so exposes a spirit of rebellion. I’m not saying that Got never speaks to His people, but there are different parts, and assignments in the body. No one disciple or minister is an island unto himself.

So then, those who go off alone, have been taken over by a spirit of pride. Rather than drink in the truths Pam Sheppard brings forth, they rather stubbornly teach what they think they know. This is folly and grave error. Teachers will receive greater punishment from God. And if you cover truth by claiming not to be a teacher, yet you continue to spread your musings about God’s truth as you see it—. What then? I’d say self-deception has gained a foothold in your life.
Oh yes! Many of these would be, lone ranger teachers, fundamentally agree with Pam’s stance that the time is  ” NOW ” to exit the organized church. Many of them also agree with the fact that countless false conversions are the order of the day.
Yet, it is Pam Sheppard who spent over 30 years  finding this out, and many other topics relating to demonic possession and more. Rather than sit at her feet, they catch a few kernels of truth from Pam’s writings and scurry back to their unGodly platform, a few even steal her words without even the respect of citing her.
.
It is unGodly and an abomination to believe that God deserts His people, leaving them to fend for themselves.
Remnant believers, who have already followed the commands of Revelation 18:4 still lose extensive ground. How do they do this: to believe that you or I, are the only one’s who will sit at the Lord’s last table is pompous and proud. Lone ranger disciples, have missed the mark, and gone the way of Cain. How so?—Cain was jealous of his brother’s right standing with the Lord. Yet the Lord God offered Cain a chance to make things right, Cain refused (Genesis 4:6,7,)
Does Pam Sheppard teach truth? Hear this—I could have gone on in error out of anger at the organized church. I could have developed a rebellious , bitter, head strong spirit and become a lone ranger minister. I could have gathered some of God’s people to myself, and taught that which I believed was correct, but I did not. I was one who was was writing and blogging online, about the ills of the church, and had over 20,000 readers on a blogging platform at Triond.com. But guess what? I shut my writing down, stopped and left teaching and ranting by the wayside. The Lord gave me a helping hand too, as eventually I was locked out  of my own pages. I got the hint and  stopped writing!
Why? Because the Lord directed me to in various ways. Why? Because the moment I got a hold of Pam Sheppard’s writings, I got an automatic check in my spirit from the Lord, that she was not only a teacher, she was the teacher. More than this, she is a prophet to the remnant, and her position is that of a trainer to ministers. She is here to teach ministers.
Yes God speaks to His people. God spoke to me and I heard Him. I don’t deny that. But there are different members in the body, with various assignments.

Pam Sheppard: Author of " Faces of the Religious Demon "

Now, you may or may not believe this, as pride is a heavy blanket. Pride will block the ears, and cloak the eyes. But know this: Pam has taught us that the organized church is over run with ” counterfeit births” a term she herself coined. The false conversions in every church are at epic proportions.
Many lone ranger disciples/teachers, are in full agreement with Pam on this. So then I say to you, just as in the days of John the Baptist, Pamela Sheppard has been sent to call the countless believers who experienced a false conversion TO TRUE REPENTANCE…so that we are throughly prepared for the coming of the Lord.
I have no intention of rousing up the 20,000 readers Ionce had from my old blog with rants, complaints and faulty teachings. I have no intention of teaching period, unless what I say meets the approval of Pam. I’m in a season to learn, and unlearn the false teachings I had been subject to in the organized church. Am I ashamed? No, rather I am happy that God has not left me in ignornance.

Pam Sheppard of Sheppard's Counseling Center

Does Pam Sheppard teach truth? My spirit bears witness that ALL Pam teaches is truth. I invite you to this reading below, entitled ” The Pam Sheppard Interview “. And if you are one who believes that God shall teach YOU DIRECTLY, I implore you to pray about Pam Sheppard. Seek the Lord for guidance as I have done. If you can not pray this prayer, something is wrong.
The apostle Paul has commaded us to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith. Even so, there are NO lone, alone, lone ranger pastors mentioned in scripture. Jesus had 12 disciples, and he sent out the 12 two by two. We are living in a time when disciples must be retrained/retaught, and sent out again to the remanant. Will you be one of them? Remember this, each day we grow closer to the Lord’s return.

Trained ministers serve as mentors to those who have left the organized church.

PRIDE IS YOUR ENEMY!

The devil’s deception was broken in my life because I am quick to admit to error and I am not a people pleaser.

Facebook is a place where everyone wants to teach and be heard and few want their followers to know that they don’t know very much.   Rebellion and belligerence is very apparent in their various posts which portrays a rebellious  spirit. Since rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, many Facebook teachers are in the hands of the enemy and God has turned some of  them over to strong delusion.

There are some teachers on fb that have actually put people in bondage with their teachings.  I won’t call any names but the truth is that their pride keeps them from being teachable. The enemy loves pride because deception is made easy when we think more highly of ourselves then we ought to think. I am not an advocate of the world’s self-esteem teaching that has been adopted by the religious world.  Self esteem as defined by the world is when the world has high regards for you.  You are accepted, found to be worthy and considered competent. In other words, worldly self-esteem is rooted in what others think of you. And for this reason, those who seek worldly favor will compromise to obtain and sustain the world’s approval.  Christians of this persuasion find that they are always trying to fit in and in so doing, they disobey the Lord’s will to please others.

I have purposed and established in my heart that my self-esteem is found in Jesus Christ.  The Lord is the only one I need to please because I love truth. When the motives of the heart are not pure, truth will be hidden.  To be pure is to be clear, articulate, unclouded understanding.  Not confused, covered up or clandestine. When something is not pure, it is defiled.  To defile is to contaminate or to pollute.  When the heart is not pure, then Satan’s job is easy because defilement has come from within US, usually because of pride. For pride begins with what we say in our hearts and what we believe in our minds. Jesus linked pride to adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy and foolishness. (Mark 7:20-22) A proud mind is not pure because it thinks, feels and behaves in ways that suggest that we think too highly of ourselves.

Pride, self esteem and vanity deny and conceal the truth. These 3 traits will pull you away from the Lord’s will by quenching and grieving the Holy Spirit and your spirit will become blocked from God’s revelation about what is to come.  Pride is also PHONY. Nothing real about it because it puts forth a facade or an act. Pride will cause you to deny your feelings, and pretend so much that you even fool yourself.  But the devil is not fooled. He knows when you are “fronted” before him in your effort to appear to be in control, putting forth that lie when you routinely boast that you are blessed by God. As you over compensate, pride will prevent you from admitting that you need help and therefore the enemy can use your pride to block you from crucial resources.

The proud religious person must ALWAYS appear to be knowledgeable and therefore he or she will never admit to not knowing or understanding a verse of scripture, because they are concerned that others will think them stupid and so they will even lie to cover up their ignorance or their weakness as they  hide the truth to protect their religious image. Such people are already in the hands of  a religious demon. Pride goeth before a fall!

A proud person is not wise either. They make stupid, even costly mistakes. As vanity is excessive pride, a vain person’s conceit will bring sure destruction for self-deception is an open doorway to failure.  Proud people :

  • are outraged when others they that they are superior to them
  • are defensive, always justifying themselves
  • are critical in their efforts to tear down others to build themselves up
  • will hunger for prestige by seeking praise and approval from others
  • adopt the ways of those they are trying to please.
  • make EVERYTHING personal.
  • will live in the past and hunger for “the good old days.”

To the proud I  declare that the world did not create you. The world did not redeem you. When you justify yourself before men, you establish them as your lord with authority and you enable the enemy to deceive you. Remember. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
