Deceived Into Sin By A Religious Spirit

CAN A BORN AGAIN PERSON SIN?

According to the Apostle John in I John 3: 9, the answer to that question is “NO!” The scripture reads: “Whosoever is born of God doth not sin; for his seed remaineth in him; and he CANNOT sin, because he is born of God.” Yet, John also wrote in the first chapter of his epistle that “if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us of ALL unrighteousness.” (I John 1:7-9)

John certainly seems to be contradicting himself on this subject of whether or not a born again person CAN or is ABLE to sin, BUT HE IS NOT. In the first chapter, I believe that John is saying that if a person sins, but then says he has not sinned,—in other words, deceives himself by rationalizing his behavior—then the truth is not in him because he has grieved the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth. Once the sinning Christian comes to his senses, the thing for him to do is to confess it, and he or she will be both forgiven and cleansed. What Chapter 3 suggests is that since a born again believer CANNOT sin, the only way he CAN, IS TO DECEIVE HIMSELF!!!!

Of one thing I am sure. I am born again. Of another thing I am sure. In 34 years as a Christian, I have sinned. So I know full well that a born again person CAN sin. When I look on those occasions where I sinned, deception was key. The only way that I could sin was “to deceive myself.” In each case, I convinced myself that God was in accord with my behavior. Therefore, I was out of touch with my spirit, where the seed is. That “seed” is the Holy Ghost. I grieved and quenched the Holy Ghost and consequently, I had no conviction because I believed that I was right. It is not built into my personality to receive accusation and to convict myself, so the enemy rarely accuses me of anything because it does not work.

One of the ways to make sure that we overcome sin is to learn how to discern the difference between the rebuke of your own conscience as led by the Holy Ghost from the accusation of the religious demon that is assigned to you.

Click book cover for ebook, title link for paperback

I have a religious demon assigned to me. The day I preached my trial sermon, a picture was taken of me in the church, posing beside the piano. Standing to my left, you can see a huge head of a gargoyle, outlined in green. Anyone who desires to see that picture, let me know. So I have seen the religious fallen angel that is assigned to me. However, for years, I convinced myself that the evil looking entity in the photo was the church’s demon and that it was not in the picture because of me. No, it is assigned to me. I suspect that you have one assigned to you also. In the book “Faces of the Religious Demon,” the many facets of this clever entity is exposed, case by case.

Anyway, learning how to differentiate between the reprimand of the Holy Spirit and the accusation of the evil spirit assigned to us is a key factor in overcoming sin. Since there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, if accusation persists once a born again believer has repented, it is NOT the Holy Ghost. He never reproves further, once the sin is cleansed by the precious blood because you have forsaken it.

According to Watchman Nee in “the Spiritual Man,” born again persons commit fatal blunders when we think that because we are saved, our spirits can only be controlled by the Holy Ghost and not ALSO by the enemy. (pg 57) The Holy Ghost is a helper, not a controller. Once He is either quenched or grieved, He will “back off.” When He retreats, the enemy comes in full force with counterfeits of His presence. This is why so many true believers remain in sin for too long. Actually, the practice of the sin of spiritual fornication, aka idolatry—goes un-noticed, with the believer completely unaware of his or her spiritual condition.

In fact, I found it a lot easier to overcome physical fornication than spiritual fornication. I believe that every committed churchgoer is a spiritual fornicator.  My spiritual fornication endured and dominated most of my “born again” life for more than two decades. In this regard, I am certainly not alone. However, I am among the very few who have been un-deceived.

And why IS that?

Well, my self deception began to gradually fade away due to the book, “War on the Saints,” by Jessie Penn Lewis. I read it and “I saw my charismatic, religious self.” But it took time regarding my pet spiritual fallacies. I reasoned, “Jessie can’t be right about this or about that! Then one day, I caught the deceiver in a lie. My eyes started to open. So I prayed, “Lord, if there is any darkness around me, please expose it.” In days, all hell began to periodically break loose. Yet, with each un-veiling, I became increasingly “un-deceived,” as my spiritual house came tumbling down like a row of stacked dominoes.

When the Holy Ghost is unable to rebuke us in our spirits because of our self deception, the demons assigned to us begin to toss us about, to and fro. The enemy takes much pleasure in mocking God’s people. I can remember how I found myself mocked in every sphere, from finances to family, from friends to foe, from fallacy to faith, the demons assigned to me had themselves a good ole time! Yet once I asked the Lord to “show me the darkness,” I ended up putting the demons on the run!

I’ll end this article  with the first statement and the first step to becoming a believer who “cannot sin.”

STATEMENT #1 Born again believers CANNOT sin until we FIRST submit ourselves to self deception.

Step #1 Go to the Father and sincerely ask Him in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth:,

“Lord, if there is any darkness around me, please expose it.”

If you are sincere, get ready for a wake-up call that will knock your spiritual socks off!!!

Spiritual Growth With the Holy Spirit: “We Must Lose to Gain”

What I have noticed over the years is that very often we don’t know that the Holy Ghost has been in our midst until after He has left the scene. For example,  a thought came into my head that I assumed was my own. The thought was, “how is it that you spiritually survive when you have lost so much that you depended on?” Immediately, I was reminded of the fact that for at least 25 years, my spiritual life was dependent upon people, places and things. By things, I mean “works” and “practices.” Among the people were those I pastored and the many ministers and members that I fellowshipped with, as well as two different husbands who I was compelled to divorce as well as family, friends and associates that I had to “cut loose”.

For me there was only one place: the church. I was in church constantly as a pastor, a member and a visitor. At times, I was in church as many as 6 days a week, hours at a time. Furthermore, I frequently visited other churches, several times a month. I also preached and taught in prison for almost 10 years. Among the things or “works” that I no longer do was my first love,— developing sermons and preaching. I practiced healing, deliverance ministry, weeping and wailing in intercession, aka, travailing, and speaking in tongues. I also moved in the “slain in the spirit” ministry, where people fell at the touch of my hand or at times, I waved my hand and some fell. I saw into the future regularly, experiencing supernatural experiences that I believed at the time were manifestations of each of the 9 gifts of the Holy Ghost.

I lost it ALL!

At the beginning of the century, with 9/11/01 as my target date of change, I had no idea that when I prayed “Lord, if there is any darkness around me, please expose it,” that practically EVERYTHING—people, places and things—would be exposed as filled with darkness and deception.

So when the thought came into my mind, “Pam, how do you live and survive today without all of that?” I had not yet come up with an answer, until my first client of the day asked me the very same question. So when she asked the very question that had just hit my own thoughts, I immediately realized that the Holy Ghost was using her to speak to me. Interestingly enough, as I counsel others, the Holy Ghost frequently uses contents of the session to have a ONE on one session with me!

I can’t recall in detail how I answered the question for it took practically the entire session to do so. However, what I recall is what the client said to me. She sounded, awed, or speechless when she replied, “Wow. Pam, you are really living for Christ because you have given up ALL for His sake.”

I was shocked by her words because since my losses are predominately religious in nature, I had not looked at them from that particular perspective. The conclusion that I had come to is that “every religious person or thing could be and was removed from me but I held on to ONE thing that could not be removed.

That ONE thing is my faith and assurance that I am saved, born again, and when all is said and done, my salvation is “enough.” Jesus Christ of Nazareth is enough for me. I have ceased from my own works and I rest in the Lord.

However, how does one arrive at such a place within his or her spiritual walk?  The e-book “Recovery In Christ”is stocked with answers. (Click the title link for a preview.)

RIC contains the 7 R's of Fruitbearing

It is not easy—at first. As the writer of Hebrews declares, “one must LABOR or struggle to enter into the Lord’s rest” (Hebrews: 4) The familiar expression: no pain, no gain does not really ring true in the spirit.. The remarkable thing is that like giving birth in the natural, once the labor and struggle of delivery has been achieved, you simply can’t remember the pain. For example, I do not recall the pain of walking away from not one husband, but two. Once I realized that they were both sent from the devil to destroy me and hinder my walk in the spirit with the Lord, the pain was minimized, to say the least!

Once God revealed to me that sermonizing was not from Him but that it is merely a man-made art, I can no longer recall the pain of not doing something that I had grown to love. Once one has actually ENTERED the Lord’s rest, than obedience is in no way painful. Loss is not painful either. You simply “move on” and live once you have “entered in.”.That is why I didn’t use the title, no PAIN no gain. I simply cannot recall the pain of losing so much. However, with each loss, I experience the gain of a new revelation. Fruit just grows without much effort these days.

People Pleasing, the Flesh and Resisting the Devil

Consider Jonah and his disobedience and sudden flight from God to a ship filled with men about to be shipwrecked because of Jonah’s folly. So to find out why they suddenly entered into a severe storm, the men on board cast lots and the lot fell to Jonah. Once Jonah was revealed, he confessed. You would have thought that the men would have immediately picked up Jonah and thrown him off of the ship. Instead, they tried to row faster. Yet when all human effort failed, they reluctantly threw Jonah overboard and peace immediately prevailed for them.

Why didn’t Jonah just jump overboard himself? Perhaps it was not physically possible and he needed someone to lift him up and cast him into the sea. My suspicion is that as it is in most cases, the people who are bringing storms into our lives are “all about self,” especially when their needs are being met by us.

However what I have learned by experience, is that once the cause of an attack has been uncovered or revealed to me, my next step is to refuse. Sometimes you have to refuse a condition or persuasion that is within your personality or in other words, a refusal may have to be made to your flesh.

For example, if you are a person that must be liked or approved of by others, you will have to refuse your flesh in this regard. If you can answer an emphatic “yes,” to the following statements as conditions of your own flesh, refusal will eventually be in order, if you are going to effectively resist the devil:

• I try to avoid being alone

• I let other people decide what to do.

• I get upset when people don’t include me in their activities;

• I am stressed if I don’t include other people in my plans;

• I am easily led;

• I hate any form of confrontation;

• I can’t stand being left out of things;

• I am emotionally dependent upon people.

So one way to crucify your flesh is by refusing to act out its nature.

Besides refusing your former nature without Christ, there are times when you also have to refuse your former perception or understanding as it relates to spiritual and religious matters. In fact, refusal is one of the ways that we cast down our imaginations, and every thought that is contrary to our obedience to the inner leadings of the Holy Ghost.

For example, if you have assumed that God would not allow the enemy to deceive you under any circumstances, to resist the devil that is assigned to you, you will have to refuse every thought connected to this false assumption. I personally know from experience that I can be deceived by the enemy because I have been, several times in fact.

Here is a personal example. It has been revealed to me that in 1996, I founded a church based upon the nature of my flesh and the leading of the religious demon assigned to me. Certainly, I believed that I was led by God at the time. However, with the discernment and the enlightenment that I have received over time, I can look back now with such understanding. What was confusing and complicated in 1996 is obvious and simple today.

Once my eyes were fully opened in 2008, I had to exercise refusal by closing the church doors. Certainly I had to face opposition to closing it. In fact, for a year, services continued in a members home, until her eyes were also opened and the doors of the church were permanently shut, never to open again.

As soon as I took the first step of refusal as I resisted the devil, the next revelation followed. Since the enemy was the secret force that led me to start this church in the first place, it logically and spiritually follows that each and every person who played a significant role in its operations was sent by the enemy also. In 13 years, several people were involved. Out of all of them, I have contact with two persons from the former church.

I’ve just published a new e-book entitled Be Delivered From Deliverance Ministry”.  If you have been in  bondage to people pleasing with deliverance workers who caused your spiritual and physical condition to worsen, you need this book.  If you have ever been in a deliverance session that lasted longer than 5 minutes, this book is for you.  If you have read a lot of books on deliverance ministry, this book will un-ravel the confusion and de-mystify how to cast out demons.

The Charismatic Movement of Today, Was Started Yesterday

AN EXCERPT FROM  THE BOOK,  THE NEW IDOLATRY

Click cover for ebook

Unfortunately, the Pentecostals and Charismatics who claim that they are word people rarely ever study history.  A part of rightly dividing the word of God is to interpret its meaning in accordant with the most relevant historical perspective.  Nevertheless, those who submit to charismatic witchcraft preachers are taught to randomly select scriptures out of context.  To discern the signs of the times, we need to understand what went on yesterday, particularly about a century ago.

It was a century ago that the seeds of charismatic witchcraft as manifested today were originally planted in the early 20th century.  No different in the early 1900’s, the movement emphasized supernatural manifestations, spectacular crowds in the midst of deception, delusion and confusion.  The speaking in tongues came to the forefront through the ministries of two men, considered the fathers of Caucasian and African-American Pentecostalism: Charles Parham of Topeka, Kansas, and Parham’s black student, William Seymore.  Seymore is credited as the leader of the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles while Parham is the first to teach that tongues is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost, a dangerous false doctrine that has filtered through the Charismatic/Pentecostal religion for more than a century.[1]

A contemporary of both Parham and Seymore, Jessie Penn Lewis, a prominent leader of the Welsh revival, warned about this false doctrine in her book, “Soul and Spirit”, —a warning that was clearly ignored both yesterday and today:”

“Again, in connection with the seeking of ‘manifestations’ as an evidence of a believer having received the ‘baptism of the Spirit,’ methods have been used to bring these about, that synchronize with methods of mesmerism, and thus counterfeits have broken into the true Church of Christ.  In other cases, believers have had a true influx of the Holy Spirit into their human spirit, and then through ignorance, they have developed the psychic power latent in the human frame, and brought about mixture in their own life and service for God, eg. If a chorus is sung over and over again, they can bring a meeting into a psychic condition, when those present become incapable of intelligent thinking, or any decisive action of will.  Thus, on a flood tide of psychic force in the world today, the demons are carrying out their plans and purposes.[2]

Other charismatic leaders passed the baton from one decade to another, introducing an ever-increasing plethora of esoteric teachings in what is labeled as “moves of God”.  By the 1970’s, authoritarianism was widespread through the predominant influence of what is referred to as the Shepherding/Discipleship Movement.

The domination and control of the sheep for the hidden motive of self-aggrandizement of various church leaders paved the way to the suppression of God’s people through the teaching called “spiritual covering” and the rise of what is called the Apostolic Movement. Connected to the “fivefold ministry” teaching which dictates the ultimate power of the apostles, over the other ministry gifts and the church at large,   the apostolic perspective  presumes that apostles and bishops have the power to provide what is referred to as “spiritual covering” to all ministers and all church members.

Implicit to spiritual covering is the false teaching that God’s people cannot trust their own spiritual discernment or judgment for even the most mundane issues of life, defying the scripture where the Apostle John wrote that we all have an unction from the Holy Ghost, and as such, we need no man to teach us. ( I John 2:27)    )    Consequently, domination, manipulation and control are intrinsically built into charismatic oversight–an open door for the sheep to be spiritually abused in their dependent reliance upon obtaining permission from appointed elders about practically every aspect of their lives.

I created a name for those who have come under the spell of the Charismatic Movement.  I call it “charismania.”  Eventually, you will need someone to cast out  religious demons from you.  Perhaps you are fine right now.  Nevertheless, when your day of torment comes, it will hit you like a ton of bricks.  So jot down this number.  I won’t change it, in anticipation of your call. 518-477-5759

The Fall of Black Preachers: Sin and the Hirelings

As an ordained minister in an African-American Church from 1981-2004, I concur with the contents of this video.  However,  Creflo Dollar, Juanita Bynum and others are really not representative of the black church.  From her book, “Come Out of Her, God’s People,” the author “goes a lot deeper.”  Two words tell the tale: hirelings and sin.  Here is a sample from this shocking  book.:

The denominational  ministers on the local district  formed a fellowship group where the ministers sat around and talked church trash after eating a full course meal. At each of these meetings, I was always the only woman present. Having attended several of these exclusively Denominational meetings, one particular ‘gathering’ stands out prominently in my mind.  One day, Rev. Keith McGillis, the President of the  Alliance and the pastor of the largest church on the Albany district decided he would “school me.” He hollered across the room  to me,  “Pam, you need to have a gimmick.” When I looked puzzled, Rev. McGillis stood up to demonstrate.

“Girl, look here. The niggas ain’t happy unless we give them some entertainment. I remember one day, my niggas must a been out late Saturday night, cause when I looked around, half a dem niggas was sleepin. So I jumped up, ran down the aisle, swung my robe hard to the left, then hard to the right.  Took my handkerchief and waved it in the air, then I threw it down hard to the floor. Twirlin around real fast, I ran out of the sanctuary, went into my office and slammed the door. Girl, them niggas started to shoutin and  screamin, some of dem jumped up and did the Holy Ghost dance.  That’s what I mean Pam. You got to have a gimmick.”  The rest of the ministers laughed in agreement. Rev. McGillis has since moved up to bigger and better things on the national level of the Denomination.

I never took his advice. I never found a gimmick. Perhaps this is the reason why I could never preach the congregation into a frenzy.  In fact,  on various occasions, my sermons were so poignant that some have jumped up out of their seats and showed me their backs as they were running out of the door while others defiantly sat right In front of me completing a cross word puzzle.  The word I preached was a two-edged sword. For even when my own garment was soiled or spoiled, I still preached holiness.

Come Out of Her, God’s People” is a shocking, yet powerful book.  Click the title for the softcover.

Ascended Masters and the Fake Jesus

This video outlines how and why the book “the Fake Jesus” was conceived. Below  is a sample of the book that coincides with the video. The narrator of the video  is the author, Pam Sheppard.

Our studies intensified in September 2007 when   Pastor Pam happened to  watch a video clip that featured the ministry of  an up and coming evangelist by the name of Cindy Trimm.  Stunned to watch hundreds of congregants  simultaneously fall on top of each other— slain in the spirit  like waves across the entire building, Pastor Pam paid particular attention to the words of the evangelist at the moment the  hundreds fell.  The words were, “I thank you,Father that the spirit of the Ashtar has fallen upon the  people.”

Troubled by the name “Ashtar”, Pastor Pam searched the scriptures and found the name of an old testament idol called “Ashteroth.” Once led to  pursue  additional research, she  searched the web  with the keyword “Ashtar.” Shocked that a Christian evangelist would call on Ashtar moments before the congregants fell slain, a   Google search  opened the door to a plethora of occult websites dedicated to uplifting the teachings of cosmic beings that are referred to as “ascended” masters.

Since September 2007, we have  discovered that there are at least 50 ascended masters, perhaps even more. Fifteen of them rank as being the primary players— fallen  who first claimed to be aliens,  sent to earth to prepare for the advent of  a one world religion and the rule of the anti-Christ.  Within “The Fake Jesus”, we present information about the top 5: Ashtar, Jesus Sananda Immanuel, Mother Mary, St. Germain and most of all  Maitreya. As the leader, Maitreya holds the title of “the Master of Masters.”  The following  essential points  are presented so that you will have a basic foundation for understanding the material you will read  in the rest of the book:

  • Extraterrestrial beings, aka aliens, are not “other life forms.”  They are fallen  that Jesus Christ of Nazareth called  DEMONS. The Apostle  Paul called these cosmic beings  “spiritual wickedness in heavenly(high) places, aka the skies that surround us.
  • Most of these demons are “religious.”  They began their open, telepathic communications with mediums and psychics centuries ago.
  • Knowing that they would not be well received by true followers of Christ, their work in and with the Christian churches has been and continues to be “undercover.”
  • There is a fake Jesus.  He is not  Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the only begotten Son of God. The fake Jesus is a demon that  calls himself “The Christ.”
  • The fake Jesus identifies himself as the portrait that has hung in many churches for centuries: a Caucasian blue-eyed man with long, light brown hair. The fake Jesus  calls himself Jesus Sananda Immanuel.
  • With his occult followers, the Fake Jesus boasts of having been the founder of various Christian cults.
  • There is more than one  high-ranking  demon who specializes in false religion. The high-ranking demons call themselves “ascended masters.” The “leader of leaders” calls himself “Maitreya.”
  • Each ascended master has a company of lower ranking demons, at least one demon assigned to every one of the elect.

Discussed in more detail in Chapter 6, very often demons who are under the authority or chain of command of the Fake Jesus  come into persons who have experienced being slain in the spirit.  We suspect that being slain in the spirit falls under the domain and authority of Ashtar. Whether there is a true manifestation of the speaking in tongues  is still being tried to see if it be of God.  However, what we have discovered is that  there is  a counterfeit of the biblical experience of which charismatics have labeled “a prayer language.” We are examining whether or not the  present day counterfeit of tongues   is  the actual  manifestation of the power of the beast in the book of revelation, where it is written that the beast “calls down fire from heaven.” In fact, word of faith, pentecostal and charismatic preachers and teachers  often call their conferences “fire from heaven.”

Pulpit Pimps and Warlocks

In my autobiographical book, “Come Out of Her, God’s People,” as a former denominational minister of 25 years, I expose the dark side of the ministry with an array of “pulpit pimp” and warlock horror stories.  Here is a sample of   the account of the first one: the late Rev. Lester. He died of complications due to AIDS, buried in Potter’s Field.   Rev. Lester was my  first pastor:

When I first joined Harriet Tubman, I had heard that Rev. Lester was a native Caribbean. Once I started to work for him in the ex-offender project, our intimacy on the program planning level opened the door for communication on deeper, more spiritual subjects. So one day at the conclusion of one of our staff meetings, I decided to seek Rev. Lester’s advice about a particular  Baptist client.  I recall that I presented him with a scenario regarding an anonymous churchgoer who believed her husband cursed her with a spell. It was my personal assessment that the cheating client was suffering from   guilt feelings and fear that her own  adulterous  indiscretions would soon be uncovered by the husband that she feared.

To my utter amazement, Rev. Lester advised me to purchase a live chicken, cut its throat and use its blood in a ritual of prayers, scriptures and other incantations. Once the lines of communication were opened to discussions of this kind, my pastor also expounded upon  the use of human hair, pubic hair, nails,  excrement and urine. Often times, Rev. Lester recommended cutting pages out of the bible, throwing them into the local river wrapped around a personal item of the  client, or some other strange practice.      Sometimes he suggested that the client repeat one of the psalms 7 times. A few times, he advised that the client bathe in various oils and herbs.

I ignored my pastor’s advice either personally or in my treatment of a client.  Notwithstanding, I was fascinated to listen to Rev. Lester expound on occult subjects. I considered him to be a powerful indigenous faith healer.  Now that I look back, I realize that he was a false prophet but in 1979, I didn’t know what a false prophet was. Once I entered the ministry in 1981 and became a serious student of the gospel of Jesus Christ for myself, I realized that Rev. Lester was more knowledgeable of occult practices than of biblical doctrine.

How False Doctrines Opened Church Doors to Satan

I   believe that it was  the traditional congregation’s invitation, of “opening the doors of the church,” that  ushered in  countless demons into the visible church system.  The founding fathers of Methodism  instituted a superior practice of placing those who seek to escape the wrath that is to come  on a probationary  membership status. The founding fathers of Methodism were wise enough to not only create a procedure to  ensure a bona fide salvation but also to protect the body from fellowship with unbelievers.  However, over time, the full enforcement of this practice became ineffective, as people were brought into permanent church status without having manifested fruits of salvation.  I personally believe that when converts can demonstrate that they are truly disciples of the Lord, then we can fellowship with them as brethren, and not before.

Yet another open door to the religious demon is the coined spiritual phrases.  A  Christian idiom most frequently expressed is  “the Lord led me.”  In a book called “Unholy Devotion,” the author aptly warns of the danger of spiritualizing:

At first glance the phrase sounds quite spiritual, but a close examination of Scripture reveals that it is not always biblical. On several occasions the phrase is used by or to describe false prophets or deceptive people. Jacob deceived his father by spiritualizing issues. Esau, Jacob’s brother, had just gone hunting. Too quickly, it seemed, Jacob, claiming to be Esau, brought the killed game to his father. “How did you find game so quickly?” Isaac asked. Having usurped Esau’s place, Jacob lied to his sick, blind father. But notice Jacob’s very ‘spiritual’ response: ‘The Lord your God gave me success.” (Gen27:20) Jacob was playing dangerous games, spiritualizing in order to manipulate someone he knew would believe such words. Jacob wasn’t a false cult leader or prophet; he was God’s own chosen servant”.

Christians often think that the seeds of heresy are found only in cults and in off-beat sects of Christianity. But John, in his first letter, and Paul, in his letter to the Ephesians, reminded us that heretical teachers are often found within the church itself. Jesus notes that the dormant seeds of heresy can be buried in the lawns of the church. In Matthew 13, Jesus tells a parable of the kingdom of heaven: The enemy sowed sees within this kingdom. In our desire to discover and understand the doctrines of cults, we may forget that potential gardens of heresy lie within our own walls. Remember: Sun Myung Moon was raised a Presbyterian; David Berg, founder of the Children of God, was once an Evangelical pastor; Jim Jones pastored a Christian church; many leaders in the People’s Temple and Jonestown were former members of Nazarene, Roman Catholic, Baptist, Methodist and Assemblies of God Churches.” 1 (HL Bussell, pg.111)

Besides the altar call, the invitation to Christian discipleship, and the various professions of faith, there are  other  coined religious platitudes and phrases like “Jesus, come into my heart” and “I accepted Jesus into my life”  that  lead to  counterfeit births.   I myself have not been able to find any scriptures in the bible that suggest that we should ask Jesus to come into our hearts.   I believe that when the Lord says that we must abide in Him, He means that we must stay in Him without wavering, in other words,—- to continue, to dwell, to be present, to remain. This is the essence of the Greek word,  that was translated “abide” in John 15.  Accordingly, baring fruit in Christ is a manifestation of a believer continuing and remaining in Him.

Yet Satan’s plot against the organized church  actually took shape  under the ministry of a preacher called Charles Finney.

Charles Finney

Finney was quite a wicked looking man, as you can see the devil all up in his face. The man lived a long time when you consider that in his lifetime, the average live span was  from the late forties to about 65.  Finney lived to be 83, from 1792-1875. A fiery New York preacher, Finney’s impact on church traditions and practices has been  so profound, that his influence is still spreading globally almost two centuries later.  Finney’s notoriety is that he is the one who brought the entire church the “make a decision for Christ” through repeating the sinners prayer and the altar call.  A practicing freemason for 8 years, Finney eventually disavowed if.  Yet what I have learned about freemasonry is that it is witchcraft. And you just  don’t walk away from witchcraft without a struggle.

Anyway, in a nutshell,  Finney believed that human beings were capable of choosing whether they would be corrupt by nature or redeemed, referring to original sin as an “anti-scriptural and nonsensical dogma”  In clear terms, Finney denied the notion that human beings possess a sinful nature. Therefore, if Adam leads us into sin,  he does so not by our inheriting his guilt and corruption, but by our  following his poor example, this leads logically to the view of Christ as not having died for sins but for some lofty, moralistic reason.

Well, this was the man who started the altar call, invitation to Christian discipleship, “I accept Jesus,” practice that has led to the greatest falling away—the one that Paul himself predicted would transpire.  Consequently, due to Charles Finney, souls have probably not been saved within the organized church system for at least 150 years!!!! This doctrine has  primarily affected the Protestants much  more than the Catholics. Another fallen angel, Mother Mary had a different strategy for THEM. The “make a decision, I accept Jesus gospel has so permeated all Protestant Church tradition, a problem that Baptist preacher Paul Washer is diligently trying to correct, to no avail.  Washer is correct on this score but there  are errors in his teaching as well, which is yet “another story.”  Another practice that Finney started was to use the preacher’s invitation at the end of a sermon to evoke an emotional response, in other words to create a charged up atmosphere to manipulate a false conversion.

Pam Sheppard: A Strong Spiritual Mother in the Body of Christ

The Joshua spirit is when God preserves an older person and then releases him or her to not be afraid of “the giants,” but also to  young people from a grasshopper mentality as we wander through this world’s wilderness.  Like Joshua, my  spiritual mother, Rev. Pamela Sheppard LMSW,  has  hung out  in the camp of doubters, unbelievers, blasphemers, hypocrites, pretenders—- people ambitiously striving to “be somebody in Christ” for more than 3 decades.   Yet  I feel with each of her 7 books,    the Joshua spirit  has been  released.  As a natural trailblazer,  it is Pastor Pam’s nature to spirit  far ahead of the crowd.

In fact, she was among the first of 7 African-American freshmen of the class of 1961 to attend a prestigious college, SUNY Albany— where she obtained  both a bachelors and a master’s degree in social work, my own alma mate for the same 2 degrees. Pastor Pam paved the way for thousands of African Americans who enroll in SUNY Albany every year.

So for my spiritual mother  to have been restrained by the hand of God  for a total of 30 years in ministry is in itself a miracle.  I could be wrong, but I believe that she has been harnessed and kept “unknown” as one of the Lord’s “aces in a hole.”  For when the religious demon has been successful at deceiving most  of  the very elect, wise warriors  like Pastor Pam  will be around to “pick up the pieces.”  What is so ironic about her life  is  that as she has gotten  older, it always seems to me like her life is just beginning.  Her  zeal, commitment and her  vital ministry to young adults  in the midst of so much maturity is phenomenal. The Lord truly seems to be “restoring her youth like the eagles.”

In one of her sermons,  Pastor Pam   confessed  that there was a time when she wondered if   she would  live to fulfill the many facets of her calling  for Christ, particularly since she believes that she has been learning more than she has been serving.  Therefore, she has   viewed “Faces of the Religious Demon”  as  her  spiritual warfare seed, planted in this   earth to bear fruit in the hands of other  Christian soldiers,  once she herself  had departed.  Yet  I pray that with the release of this book,  even if she  may desire to go,   that Jesus will not  let her come home right now.   I can personally attest to the fact that as she wrote the final words of a book that was inspired by her casting out the religious demon from ME, she almost could not complete it because each day she received yet another insight. In her  own   words, the Joshua spirit unfolds:

Pastor Pam at 67 years young

“ I am a 68 year  old war horse!  I realize that  the Lord Jesus Christ   may need me here, perhaps more than ever.    It’s a strange    spiritual place to be in. The only reason why I need to be on this earth is to serve Jesus.  In that way, I am like Paul.  I could go home now, but you guys need me here!   The beauty is that I believe that I am  on the path leading to  overcoming the fear of death, if I have not overcome it already. To lose the fear of death is the ultimate deliverance. The ultimate freedom.  The ultimate victory  not only over the religious demon but  all demons. It is the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

It is like this.  She is so bold yet so loving     and understanding, that you are either with her or you are against her, and she accepts whatever YOU choose.  No one can be lukewarm with the powerful word she brings, whether she is speaking or writing.  I recommend that you not only be blessed by “Faces of the Religious Demon,” But ALL of her books. You also should consider allowing us at Pam Sheppard Ministries  to spiritually mentor or coach you in such a time as this.  Call 518-477-5759 (Click book  cover for soft cover and click links for ebooks))

The Influence of Women on Both the Charismatic and the New Age Movements

What is it about the female psyche that predisposes women to white magic, whether it be New Age or charismatic manifestations?

To hazard a guess, I believe the female predisposition can be traced back to the days of Noah, when fallen angels broke through the dimensional barriers of the spirit and began to communicate and then copulate with women.  Simply put, fallen angels find it easier to contact us.  suffice it to repeat herein that women have tremendously facilitated the enemy’s passing from the 4thdimension into the third one. Consequently, it is not accidental that women have been prominent agents of both white magic and the charismatic movement as Satan has continued his enmity between his demonic army  and the seed of women for several centuries, up to and including the present. The snake is well-known and universally symbolic of  Satan, devils and demons. In the bible, the python snake is specifically associated with divination(Acts 16). No one can deny that the first biblically  recorded human being to converse with a fallen angel was Eve.  In fact, in Genesis Chapter 3, God pronounced and predicted a life-long battle between the female gender and Satan where Eve’s desire to lead is constantly challenged.  Therefore, it should not be surprising that the enemy would target women in a significant way to promote his own agenda. Perhaps the main subject of a future book, I merely  highlight the role that women have played in both the New Age and the charismatic movements for the intents and purposes of this article.

First consider that the new age movement as we know it today was actually founded by two women:  Helen Blavatsky (1891) and Alice Bailey.  (1919-1949).  Having studied in Tibet and trained by various masters in Theosophy, Blavatsky spread Theosophy around the word from 1875 until her death in 1891.   Theosophy is  a mix of Hinduism, Buddhism, Spiritualism, and Gnostic Christianity, with Masonic rituals, and a systematic criticism of Christianity, Judaism and Islam… all based in the visions and revelations that Mme. Blavatsky had by the “Mahatmas” of Tibet, and the Spiritualism she lived in the USA.[1]The “Mahatmas” are the “Great White Fraternity.” Among them are Buddha, Krishna, and the fake Jesus… The Theosophists try to get in contact with them by  all kinds of occultism, connected to the false assumption that God is mere “energy”; Notwithstanding,  this pseudo-religion acknowledges  a plethora of Hindu gods, to whom  followers worship  at make-shift altars in the  home.  In Theosophy, each man and woman is “God”… though they cannot make stars nor atoms!… but it is believed that  through many reincarnations, they will realize that they are “God.”  Theosophy teaches that Jesus Christ was divine only in the same sense that you and I are divine, and eventually, we will all be divine.[2]

Under the influence of both Blavatsky, the nineteenth century is characterized by an  increased interest in the occult and the supernatural, particularly in regards to necromancy, the communication with the dead.  Actually, women were its main agents, perhaps due to the barriers for women in leadership roles  within the organized church.  Spiritualism, as this movement was called, carved a place for women in leadership roles.  In 1848, the Fox sisters—Margaret, Leah and Catherine—, reported hearing spirit rappings in their Arcadia NY home.  As a result, these sisters became a driving force in American spiritualism.  They organized “performance” in which they manifested their psychic abilities.[3]These performances included communication with spirits, called channeling.  Channeling occurs by the use of a planchette or a Ouija Board.  Called a talking board, its first use emerged in the 19th century as a product of the spiritualism.  A planchette is a wooden board.  In his book, “Final Events,” the author summarizes “the talking board.”

“Methods of divination that existed at that time utilized a variety of ways to spell out messages, including swinging a pendulum over a plate that had letters carefully positioned around the edge, or y using a table to indicate letters drawn on the floor.”[4] Channeling enables spiritualists to enter into an altered state of consciousness, in which a trance is entered and the spiritualist or medium plays host— or in most cases—,hostess to a specific entity, which may be an angel, a demon, an extraterrestrial or a dead relative who speaks through the medium or channel.  Very often, the voice is extremely distorted or exaggerated, wherein the listeners are provided with words of wisdom, or spiritual comfort, yet it is nothing but vile deceit. [5] In 1915, Alice Bailey was introduced to Theosophy.  Once a Sunday School teacher in a Presbyterian church, Bailey’s studies ultimately led her to become a channel for fallen angels. In fact, Alice Bailey is renowned by New Age occultists, revered as “the Mother of the New Age Movement.”[6]

On the Christian Church side of the supernatural, beginning with Marie Woodworth Etter, faith healing and evangelist: (1844-1924), we find  one of the best known Holiness preachers of the pre-Pentecostal era. From around 1885 onwards she began to use the charismatic gifts in her meetings, and was known for healings, trances and visions. Licensed to preach in 1884, Etter was the mega preacher of her day in tent revivals. Her critics called her “the Voodoo Priestess.” She was known for speaking in tongues, along with strange and sundry manifestations that were attributed to the movement of the Holy Ghost. Etter was was also  known for preaching texts out of context, preached regularly  for the Mormons, and seemed to be the person who started the phenomena known today  as “slain in the spirit.” Most of the manifestations common in present day meetings like the Toronto Blessing  were experienced in the Woodworth-Etter meetings, so much so that some critics of the current movement trace The Toronto blessing  back to Etter.

Etter was certainly faithful to her calling and it appears that  she was  honest and sincere.  But as I  WROTE  in “Faces of the Religious Demon”,  “we are now living in an era when the Lord will turn over those with a religious demon to a reprobate mind.  At that moment, the captive’s thoughts will be permanently darkened to the degree that he becomes incapable of receiving the truth.  Within charismatic circles, several women were as equally prominent as Blavatsky, Bailey, and the Fox Sisters.  Case in point, just prior to the Azusa Street phenomena, there was a woman who studied under Charles Parham, the father of Pentecostalism, named Agnes Ozman.(1870-1937)  She is considered to be the first person in our times to speak in tongues on 1/1/1901. According to her fellow students, it was reported that a halo surrounded Agnes Ozman’s face and head while she spoke in a language that sounded like Chinese, but the language was not verified. In fact, it is reported that she could not speak in English for 3 full days and she could only write what appeared to be Chinese characters. A student of Charles Parham, considered the founder/father of Pentecostalism, Ozman eventually changed her views on tongues as being the absolute and only evidence of the baptism in the Holy Ghost—a view still held by present day Charismatics and Pentecostals.[7]

Four years after Agnes Ozman’s supernatural manifestation of speaking in tongues,  the Charismatic/Pentecostal movement began on Azusa Street in 1905. Yet even before Azusa, other women were historically prominent, including but not limited to: Elizabeth Mix, Carrie Judd, Elizabeth and Lotti Sisson and Marie Woodworth-Etter.  Born in Buffalo NY in 1858, Carrie Judd received a healing through the ministry of Elizabeth Mix, an African American evangelist.  Eventually, Judd herself became a worldwide evangelist, where “Mother” Emma Whittemore claimed that she received healing of a long standing spinal injury through Judd’s ministry.  Judd also worked with well known Marie Woodworth Etter.  In 1885, Etter began conducting healing meetings that were known for physical “manifestations,” where she spoke  to crowds as large as 25,000.  Many of Etter’s followers joined the Pentecostal denomination known as the Assemblies of God.[8]

The effects of the 1905 Azusa Street manifestations unleashed a chain of reaction where several women either initiated or figured prominently within the charismatic movement at the turn of the 20th century.  Most noteworthy are Marie Woodworth Etter, Aimee Semple McPherson and Kathryn Kuhlman.  Every mega preacher, not only female but the men as well, have been influenced by the key women mentioned briefly in this article.  What does it all mean for us today? Well any woman who has had a supernatural experience that drew her into the ministry needs to learn how to try the spirits to see if it be of God.  Women are also welcome to enroll in our ministerial training program called SEW.
